Thanksgiving reminds people to practice gratitude. As we prepare for the season of gratitude, we can learn how to practice gratitude every day to enhance our well-being and build confidence and resilience.

Your Positivity Toolbox has some tools to create a healthy habit to strengthen a positive mindset through EXPRESSING GRATITUDE.

Why it matters

With all the change and uncertainty in the world, it sometimes takes some effort to remember that there’s lots to be thankful for. It takes a moment, but it’s certainly worth the effort. Gratitude isn’t about knowing. It’s about feeling and experiencing this feeling regularly which increases happiness and satisfaction.

According to Jennifer Wallace, author of Never Enough: When achievement culture becomes toxic and what we can do about it,

“Gratitude isn’t something kids will learn in one conversation or over a single holiday. It’s a practice that needs to be woven into their daily lives. By helping young people cultivate a habit of gratitude, you’re giving them a gift beyond Thanksgiving—a tool for resilience, connection, and lifelong joy.

How it works

Expressing gratitude naturally increases our positivity and counters materialism. It decreases stress and it helps you notice all the good things already happening. It also enables savoring (see behavior #2)!
